Prepare area and slope where detectable warnings will be placed.

Install the anchoring bolts into the tile (Patent Pending).

Place the TekTool™  in the ramp to help outline area where detectable warnings will be placed.

Remove ¾ inch of concrete from within the TekTool™.

Remove TekTool™ and, using a wood float, level the area where detectable warnings will be placed.

Brush the back of each tile with a pre-dampened brush to aid adhesion of cement mixture.

Apply a minimum 1/8 inch mixture of 3:1:1 ratio of portland cement, sand and portable water to the back of the tile.

Place the tile into the leveled area. Prepare additional tile(s). Align and put into place additional tile(s). Position tiles into concrete and level by using a rubber mallet.

Finish surrounding concrete flush with base of TekWay® Dome – Tiles and edge around tiles with a 1/8” radius edger. Clean any concrete residue off of tile.

You’re Done!

  1. The thin-set method may be a better choice when taking into account scheduling, the size or shape of the ramp or the flush curb, or ease of install.
  2. For example, large semi-circular ramps are easy to install by this method.
  3. Thin-sets that have been tested and proven to provide a solid installation are Mapei Grani Rapid System or Mapei Kerabond/ Keralastic System.
  4. Easy to cut radiuses and angles with a standard concrete saw using a diamond Blade.
  5. Complete installation instructions by the thin-set method are available by contacting our customer service department.
  6. Contractor training available.
